Prime Minister Abiy Congratulates Germany's New Chancellor Friedrich Merz

Addis Ababa, May 6, 2025 (ENA)—Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has congratulated Friedrich Merz after Germany's parliament on Tuesday elected him as the new chancellor in a second round of voting.

“Congratulations to Friedrich Merz on your election as Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany,” the Prime Minister wrote on X.

 The Premier added: “As we mark 120 years of diplomatic relations between our two nations, I am confident that our strengthened partnership will serve as a solid foundation for advancing the global good.”
