Ethiopia, Israel Pledge to Strengthen Historic Ties

Addis Ababa, May 5, 2025 (ENA) – Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos held high-level talks with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, marking a significant step in reinforcing diplomatic relations between the two nations.

During their diplomatic engagement, both ministers conducted comprehensive discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing shared regional and international concerns.

The meeting underscored the historic friendship between Ethiopia and Israel.

The diplomatic dialogue covered various sectors of mutual interest, including agriculture, technology transfer, and economic partnerships. Both ministers expressed their commitment to expanding collaboration in these vital areas.

During the meeting Minister Timothewos emphasized Ethiopia's interest in leveraging Israeli expertise in agricultural technology, areas where Israel has demonstrated global leadership.

Minister Sa'ar, in turn, acknowledged Ethiopia's strategic importance in the Horn of Africa and its potential as a key partner in regional stability.

 

The ministers concluded their meeting by reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between their nations.

This high-level meeting comes at a crucial time for both nations and signals a renewed focus on strengthening diplomatic, economic, and security ties between Ethiopia and Israel.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Gideon Saar, arrived in Addis Ababa today for an official working visit to Ethiopia.

During his visit, FM Saar is expected to hold talks with senior Ethiopian government officials on ways of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
