Ethiopian Delegation Holds Fruitful Discussion with Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Dev't Official

Addis Ababa, April 25, 2025 (ENA) --- Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance Ahmed Shide held a fruitful meeting with Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Waleed Al-Bahar and discussed partnership of the two countries.

The discussion was held on the sidelines of the 2025 World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings in Washington DC.  

The Minister briefed the Director General on Ethiopia’s current development priorities and the early gains of the ongoing macroeconomic reform program that is modernizing and transforming the country’s economy toward a market-based economy and fosters private investment in the country.

The Minister requested financial assistance from the Fund for select projects - in particular related to infrastructure development - that will help boost productivity and unlock Ethiopia’s full economic potential.

The Director General for his part expressed the Fund’s full commitment to scale up its engagement in Ethiopia, including financing the country’s critical infrastructure as well as other crucial development projects in the country.

The two sides agreed to deepen the two countries’ partnership and to fast track the Fund’s support on strategic and impactful projects that will benefit Ethiopia’s growth and development aspirations.
