Water Ministers from Nile Basin Countries Pay Visit to Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam

Addis Ababa, February 23, 2025 (ENA)— Water Ministers from the Nile Basin countries visited the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) today.

The visit included diplomats, and journalists from Nile Basin countries who attended the Nile Basin Council of Ministers meeting, was held in Addis Ababa, ENA was learnt.

Mainly, journalists from the riparian countries, encompassing the water ministers of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan, and Ethiopia participated in the visit to GERD.

The Ministers were briefed by Ethiopia's Water and Energy Minister Habtamu Itefa and Project Manager of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Engineer Kifle Horo which Ethiopia is building along the Nile River.

The extraordinary council of ministers meeting was held in Addis Ababa under the theme: “Strengthening Nile Cooperation for Resilience and Shared Prosperity.”
