Ethiopia’s President Taye Holds Discussions with UN General Assembly President

Addis Ababa, February 15, 2025 (ENA)—President Taye Atske Selassie, in the early hours of this morning, held discussions with the UN General Assembly (UNGA) President, Philemon Yang.

During the occasion, the two sides discuss a number of issues concerning Ethiopia, concerning Africa and the United Nations.

 Speaking to ENA, President Taye described the discussion as a very important and fruitful discussion with UNGA President.

He added the meeting emphasized on the importance of enhancing African representation in the UN Security Council and other architectures in this global body.


 

UN General Assembly (UNGA) Philémon Yang also told ENA that he had a very interesting discussion and looked at a number of issues.

According to him, Ethiopia is a very important and key nation in Africa.

“Ethiopia is one of the nations which believes in the Charter of the United Nations. So our relationship, the relationship of the United Nations General Assembly and Ethiopia is great and will keep getting greater.”


 

 Recalled that President Taye Atske Sewlassie conferred yesterday with UN Secretary-General and they stressed the need for accelerating cooperation in all aspects between the two sides.
