IMF Managing Director Commends Ethiopia on Successful Implementation Economic Reforms

Addis Ababa, February 8, 2025 (ENA)—The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva commended Ethiopia on the successful implementation of recent economic reforms.

Georgieva also acknowledged the significant progress Ethiopia has made across multiple fronts.

The Managing Director and delegation meets with senior Ethiopian officials following her arrival in Addis Ababa this morning for an official visit.

Georgieva held discussions with high-ranking representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Planning & Development and the National Bank of Ethiopia.

 

The meeting focused on Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reforms, the support provided by the IMF, and prospects for continued collaboration to advance the country’s economic agenda.

During the discussions, Georgieva commended Ethiopia on the successful implementation of recent economic reforms and acknowledged the significant progress made across multiple fronts.

Minister of Finance Ahmed Shide provided an overview of the government’s ongoing reform initiatives, emphasizing Ethiopia’s determination to establish itself as a beacon of prosperity in Africa.
