Ethiopia’s Finance Ministry Inks 4.5 Million Euro Grant Agreement with Italian Ministry for Universities & Research

 

Addis Ababa January  27, 2025 (ENA)—Ethiopia’s Finance Ministry and Italian Ministry for Universities and Research have signed a 4.5 million Euro grant agreement  today to supporting the strengthening of digital services in Ethiopia.

The agreement was signed between Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and Italian Minister of Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini.

The initiative aimed at supporting the strengthening of digital services of Ethiopia by the creation of an incubation center for high technology innovation enterprises.

Speaking at the occasion, Finance Minister Ahmed Shide expressed gratitude for Italy's enduring support, highlighting the strong historical and economic ties between the two nations.

He emphasized that the agreement aligns seamlessly with Ethiopia's long-term development goals in agriculture, industry, health, education, and private sector development.

This would also strengthen service delivery, foster innovation and entrepreneurship as well as promote job creation in key sectors through cutting-edge technologies and infrastructures, the Minister underscored.

Italian Universities and Research Minister, Anna Maria Bernini, on her part, reaffirmed future collaborations with Ethiopia.

Moreover, she expressed her country’s commitment to supporting joint initiatives and fostering stronger bilateral relations.
