Prime Minister Abiy Initiates Ten Directions to make Jimma International City

Addis Ababa, January 26, 2025 (ENA)—Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has pledged to transform Jimma city of Ethiopia and initiated ten directions to be executed in order to make it an international city.

The Prime Minister has suggested the following areas of development sectors as comparative advantages of Jimma city to become a  global city:-

​​​​👉Increase the production of high-quality and specialty coffee
👉 Introduce diverse organic tea products for both local and international markets
👉Utilize natural fertilizers to produce, package, and export high-quality fruit products.
👉Improve the quality and export of beef, milk, poultry, and eggs to meet international export standards
👉Develop a competitive spice industry by processing and packaging a variety of spices for global markets
👉Establish factory-level production of internationally standardized wood products
👉Develop ceramic factories to produce high-quality flooring, wall, and roofing materials for both local construction and export
👉 Leverage Jimma’s natural, religious, and cultural heritage to position it as a key tourism destination
👉Strengthen Jimma’s well-known spirit of peace and hospitality
👉 Enhance work ethics while addressing and transforming harmful cultural practices
