Ethiopian Foreign Minister Visits Dorale Multipurpose Port in Djibouti

 

Addis Ababa December 30/2024 (ENA)— Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos along with his delegation, visited the Dorale Multipurpose Port and Terminal in Djibouti today.

During the visit, the delegation observed the port's operations, including the processes related to income and expenditure management.

The Minister paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, on Sunday where they discussed strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two brotherly nations.

The two sides exchanged views on bilateral and continental issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts in addressing the key focus areas highlighted during the recently held 17th Ethio-Djibouti Joint Ministerial Commission meeting.


 

FM Gedion also held talks with Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Djibouti.

During the discussion, Gedion emphasized that the longstanding ties between the two brotherly nations serve as a model for fostering regional cooperation.

He highlighted Ethiopia's commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region and its unwavering determination to combat Al-Shabaab.

The Ethiopian delegation held discussions on enhancing Djibouti's port services, expanding fuel terminal capacity, completing the construction of the Dikhil-Galafi road, and improving the overall efficiency of cargo transportation and import-export processes.
