FM Gedion Holds Talks with Djibouti Counterpart

Addis Ababa December 29/2024 (ENA)— Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, held talks with Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Djibouti.
Ethiopia’s delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos is in Djibouti for bilateral talks.
During the discussion, Gedion emphasized that the longstanding ties between the two brotherly nations serve as a model for fostering regional cooperation.
He highlighted Ethiopia's commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region and its unwavering determination to combat Al-Shabaab.
The Ethiopian delegation held discussions on enhancing Djibouti's port services, expanding fuel terminal capacity, completing the construction of the Dikhil-Galafi road, and improving the overall efficiency of cargo transportation and import-export processes.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Djibouti Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, underscored that the friendship between the two nations is deeply rooted in the familial bonds shared by their peoples and reaffirmed its continuation.
He commended Ethiopia's efforts in promoting sustainable peace and stability and emphasized joint collaboration to counter Al-Shabaab.
He noted that further work is underway to strengthen Ethiopia's fuel supply line linked with Djibouti's Damerjog terminal.
The construction of the Dikhil-Galafi road is progressing steadily and is expected to be completed within a few months, he added.
