Prime Minister Abiy Welcomes French President Emmanuel Macron

Addis Ababa December 21/2024 (ENA)—The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Addis Ababa this evening for an official working visit to Ethiopia.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has warmly welcomed the president up on arrival at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. 

“I welcome my brother and good friend of Ethiopia Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic of France on his second visit in the past six years,” the Prime Minister shared on his social media channels.

He added the partnership between Ethiopia and France will be further consolidated.

“The ties between our two nations continue to be strengthened and I look forward to our discussions during his stay in Ethiopia,” the Premier underscored. 

Ethiopia and France share a robust friendship and cooperation that has endured over the years.

In recent years, the cooperation between Ethiopia and France has been bolstered by reciprocal visits and bilateral discussions.

Notably, during Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's working visit to Europe in 2018, France was among his key destinations.

In 2022, the two nations commemorated the 125th anniversary of their historic partnership through a series of events.

One notable occasion was the investment forum held in Addis Ababa, aimed at enhancing trade relations between Ethiopia and France, with participation from companies from both countries.

This milestone not only celebrated the longevity of their ties but also served as a moment for both nations to reaffirm their dedication to elevating their relationship further.
