Ethiopia, Qatar vow to elevate their Bilateral Relations to Higher Level

Addis Ababa December 19/2024 (ENA)—Ethiopia and Qatar have pledged to elevate their bilateral relations to a higher level of all-weather cooperation.
The 146th Qatar National Day was marked in Addis Ababa last night, attended by high level government officials, ambassadors, diplomats, and among other invited guests of various countries.
During the occasion, Ethiopian Foreign Affairs State Minister, Ambassador Misganu Arga remarked that the bilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and Qatar is advancing to new heights.
“The Relationship between Ethiopian and Qatar is cemented with important people to people ties. Currently, Thousands of Ethiopians are working and living in Qatar.
The Government of Ethiopia is appreciative of the support that the Qatari Government is providing for Ethiopians living and working in the state of Qatar,” Misganu stated.
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, the state minister emphasized that the long-standing diplomatic ties between the two nations are deeply rooted in strong people-to-people connections.
Since the formal establishment of the diplomatic ties of the two countries in 1995, he revealed that Ethiopia’s relationship with the State Qatar has been steadily strengthened and areas of cooperation have been expanded.
“The Ethio-Qatar relations have been showing tremendous progress through the exchange of high level official visits. As a result of the unwavering commitment of our leaders, our two countries, bilateral ties have been elevated to a new height,” he said.
During the official exchange of high-level visits, the Governments of Ethiopia and Qatar have signed various bilateral Agreements and MoUs, the State Minister indicated.
According to him, Qatari investment in Ethiopia is increasing over time, adding that the trade volume between the two countries is steadily increasing.
“There is a great deal of potential to grow the trade and investment opportunities,” he noted.
He further mentioned that thousands of Ethiopians are currently residing and working in Qatar, fostering a rich cultural exchange that enhances mutual understanding between the two countries.
Extending warm congratulations to the government and people of Qatar for the 146th National Day, Mesganu stated that the country made tremendous progress in all fields beyond expectation since its foundation.
“Today, the State of Qatar has become an important player in Regional and International Affairs. Under the dynamic leadership of H.H Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir, Qatar has made great progress. It has created opportunities for its people and beyond.”
Finally, he reiterated the unwavering commitments of the Ethiopian Government to work hand in hand with the Government and institutions of the State of Qatar to further strengthen partnership.
Qatar's Ambassador to Ethiopia, Saad Mubarak Al-Naimi, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to further consolidated a long-aged bilateral ties with Ethiopia.
Recalling the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and Qatar in 1995, the ambassador underscored that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries has been growing with time in various sectors.
The ambassador also expressed his country’s commitment to further enhancing collaboration in various development sectors.
Since the establishment of formal diplomatic relations in 1995, both nations have worked diligently to strengthen their cooperation with a focus on mutual benefits and shared goals.
