PM Abiy Stresses Importance of Active Community Involvement to Successful Urbanization

Addis Ababa December 10/2024 (ENA)—Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed underscored that urbanization is not solely the responsibility of the government—it requires active community involvement to succeed.

The first phase of the Hawassa Corridor development has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

The Prime Minister remarked that the Hawassa Corridor represents a continuation of the urban development efforts initiated in Addis Ababa, with a distinct approach that sets it apart.

Its unique features, such as wider walkways, dedicated bike paths, and the use of locally manufactured smart lighting, highlight innovation and sustainability, the premier elaborated.

However, urbanization is not solely the responsibility of the government—it requires active community involvement to succeed, Abiy underscored.

“While progress has been made, much remains to be done to complete these transformative projects,” the prime minister stated on social media post.

As a vast and resource-rich nation, PM Abiy said Ethiopia has immense potential, and it is time for all Ethiopians to recognize this and take action to realize it.
