Ethiopia to Host 13th Int’l Conference on Pulses, Oilseeds Next Week

Addis Ababa November 15/2024 (ENA)-Ethiopia's Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration announced that Addis Ababa will host the 13th International  Pulses and Oilseeds Conference from November, 19- 20, 2024.

The Conference is co-organized by the Ministry and the Ethiopian Pulses and Oilseeds Exporters Association (EPOSEA).  

In her media briefing today, Trade and Regional Integration State Minister Yasmin Wohabrebbi said about 25 countries are expected to participate at the conference that will be held at the historical Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in the capital. 

According to her, about 430 Ethiopian pulses and oilseeds exporters are also part of the conference.   

The conference is believed to bring Ethiopian exporters and foreign buyers  together with a view to enhance their business partnership, she added. 

Scholars will present their research works conducted on the sector  and trade fair will also be held as part of the conference, which will create an opportunity to promote Ethiopia’s pulses and oilseeds products. 

The demand for pulses and oilseeds is rising in the international market. Ethiopia has immense potential for harvesting pulses and oilseeds for its favorable ecology. Ethiopia. 

Ethiopian Pulses, Oilseeds and Spices Exporters Association General Manager Edao Abdi on his part said the conference will create an opportunities for Ethiopian exporters as it facilitates exchange of views with counterparts of various countries in value addition and digital technology  among other things.

According to him, what makes this year’s conference unique is it is going to be held,  following the implementation of Ethiopia's Macroeconomic reform policy which has already been bearing fruits. 

According to EPOSEA, 16 highly experienced business men and experts in the industry will make speech on the current global trade patterns of the sector.  

It is the largest event in Eastern and Sub Saharan Africa where international buyers from all over the world, international importer associations, value chain companies and service providers, agro-processing industries and grain producers’ traders, fertilizer and  machine suppliers as well as  agro-chemical suppliers will meet together to discuss  to strengthen their partnership.
