Ethiopia, China Pledge to Revitalize TVET Cooperation into Higher Levels

Addis Ababa October 23/2024 (ENA)- Ethiopia’s Federal Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institute and China’s Tianjin University of Technology and Education signed memorandum of understanding to heighten technical and vocational education and training (TVET) cooperation.  

Chinese Education Vice Minister, Wu Yan, along with his delegation members, visited Federal Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institute of Ethiopia today.

 

While visiting the infrastructures of the institute including the industrial robot technology application for the university students, the Chinese Vice Minister appreciated the remarkable improvements and developments that the institute has registered since its establishments.

The support and involvement of China in the establishment, infrastructure development and capacity building of the institute is vital, it was learned.

Finally, the two sides concluded the visit with the signing of MoU that aimed at elevating collaboration through sharing of experiences, knowledge, technology as well as capacity building activities. 

Moreover, the MoU aimed at seeking common development and carry out multi-level cooperation in the field engineering practice and innovation certification to East African technical and vocational education teachers. 

The certification of this cooperation said to mainly involve include teachers, students and trainees who have studied artificial intelligence related courses.

Director General of Federal Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institute of Ethiopia, Bruk Kedir and Zhang Jingang, Chairman of Tianjin University of Technology and Education of Chaina signed the MoU in the presence Labor and Skills Minister, Muferihat Kamil and Wu Yan, Education Vice Minister of China.  

The understanding of the two sides further focuses of curriculum development, capacity building, and scientific research and project developments.
