Ambassador Kosek Says Ethiopia is Czech Republic's Primary Partner in Dev't Cooperation

Addis Ababa  October 22/2024 (ENA)-The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa celebrated its National Day yesterday. 

The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Zenebe Kebede, Director General for European and American Affairs at the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry, diplomats and other invited guests.

 

During the event, Czech Ambassador to Ethiopia Miroslav Kosek highlighted the long-standing tradition of trade between the Czech Republic and Ethiopia.

He emphasized that the political and business relations between the former Czechoslovakia and Ethiopia have always been rooted in friendship. 

Ambassador Kosek also noted that Czech companies have established leather manufacturing industries and several breweries in Ethiopia. 

He explained that Ethiopia is the Czech Republic's primary partner in development cooperation, particularly in agriculture, rural development, and the sustainable management of natural resources. 

On other hand, he added that Czech government has approved an official document, type of program Africa, which outlines the priorities of the Czech Republic in Africa. Ethiopia is one of the closest and most reliable partners in this endeavor.

 

Ambassador Zenebe Kebede, Director General for European and American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that although Ethiopia and the Czech Republic are separated by distance, they are connected through shared values and aspirations.

 “Our two nations have enjoyed a long-standing relationship characterized by cooperation and solidarity,” he stated.

He emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration, from cultural exchanges to economic partnerships, noting that while these partnerships are currently minimal, efforts continue to enrich the ties between both peoples. 

“On this special day, let us also celebrate the vibrant cultural heritage of the Czech Republic, which has inspired countless generations through its art, music, literature, and innovation.” 

Noting the two countries have exerted maximum efforts to strengthen their relations he said, adding in the efforts to strengthen the two countries' diplomatic relations, the exchange of high-level visits are of paramount.
