Water Resource Minister of IGAD Member Countries Arrive in Jigjiga

Addis Ababa, May 7/2024 (ENA)  Water ministers of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) member countries have arrived in Jigjiga, Somali Region of Ethiopia to take part in a forum organized to discuss on the transboundary surface water resources in the region.

Chief Administrator of Somali Region, Mustefe Mohamed warmly welcomed the ministers up on arrival at Jigjiga airport today. 

Representatives of international organizations including UNICEF and World Bank are expected to participate at the meeting that will be held in Shbele district of Somali region. 

The officials are expected to visit water development projects in the region including a multi-village drought-resistant drinking water project in Togochale town and joint infrastructural development activities across the borderland communities of Ethiopia and Somalia.

They will also evaluate the livelihood of borderland community in terms of trade and their common challenges and opportunities.
