ETHIOPIA TAMRIT  Street Run To Be Held on Coming Sunday

Addis Ababa, April 17/2024 (ENA) The Ministry of Industry, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Athletics Federation organized  ETHIOPIA TAMRIT (Let Ethiopia Produce" 10 km street run on April 21, 2024.

ETHIOPIA TAMRIT is a national manufacturing industry movement that was launched in May 2022 with the objective to boosting competitiveness of the sector by solving the bottlenecks in a sustainable, integrated and comprehensive manner. 

The street run aims to further promote industrial products and create linkage between producers.

Briefing media today, state minister of Industry Terekegn Bululta recalled that ‘Let Ethiopia Produce’ movement launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in order to bring about a sustainable structural transition in the industry sector.

The movement, as part of the 10-year development plan for the industry sector anticipates addressing the challenges that producers at all levels confront and creating a favorable business environment in the manufacturing process. 

Since, then the movement has been registering remarkable accomplishments in encouraging import substitution, promoting export and contributing to expand production and productivity.

He elaborated that efforts have been carrying out to rejuvenate manufacturing the sector though various programs including street run, bazaar and exhibition as well as networking producers.

The 10 km street run is one of the programs organized for the 3rd year of the movement.

Thus, he added that the aim is to support manufacturing industries by investing in the sports sector, promote sport goods produced by local manufacturers, and create the necessary market linkages and attract investment in the sector.

It was indicated on the occasion that 10,000 people from the manufacturing industry, partner organizations, diplomatic communities and 22 athletic clubs are expected to participate at the event, which will be held in Addis Ababa.

The first and second winners will receive 250,000 and 150,000 birr award respectively, while the 3rd winners will receive 100,000 birr.
