Ethiopia Shines as Prime Destination for Trade, Investment, Says Amb. Sileshi

Addis Ababa, April 17/2024 (ENA) -Ethiopian Ambassador to USA Sileshi Bekele said Ethiopia shines as a prime destination for trade and investment, ranking top 5 in Africa for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

The Ethiopian Embassy in the US and WAFA organized an Ethio-US Business and   Investment Forum alongside the World Bank/IMF meeting.

Ambassador Sileshi posted on X that about 150 Ethiopian and USA investors attended the event.

 

The Forum provided an opportunity to explain and discuss Ethiopia’s investment opportunities as well as its conducive climate for business, according to the ambassador.

Sileshi added it was also a useful networking platform for investors.

“Ethiopia shines as a prime destination for trade and investment, ranking top 5 in Africa for FDI. Recent tech partnerships with giants like Google, Meta, Databricks, & Palantir showcase our welcoming business climate”

The ambassador also explained those enabling environments in Ethiopia for investment such as exciting expansions and development in aviation, IT & AI, and workforce development and opportunities abound across sectors like textiles, mining, finance and telecom.

Those aforementioned opportunities would make Ethiopia a priority destination for Foreign Direct Investment, he elaborated.  

The Ethiopian delegation led by Minister of Finance,  Ahmed Shide attended the forum.
