PM Abiy Vows to Modernize Ethiopian Air Force

Addis Ababa, December 16/2023(ENA)- “We will modernize the Ethiopian Air Force which our brave forefathers established and pass on it to the next generation," Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said.
The Ethiopian Air Force has graduated candidate officers, pilots, technicians, flight instructors and others in various fields as part of its 88th founding anniversary.
The 88th anniversary of the Ethiopian Air Force was colorfully celebrated with various programs in the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today.
Chief of Staff of the National Defense Force, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula and Ethiopian Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Yilma Merdasa, air force chiefs of various African countries, and chief administrators of regional states and invited guests attended the closing ceremony.
Speaking on occasion, the prime minister said that the event marked Ethiopia's ability to build and maintain the great institution worth of its greatness.
The premier elaborated that the graduation of candidate officers who completed their rigorous training has been a great achievement for the future development of the air force.
The Ethiopian Air Force is a beacon of perseverance in building great institution for the great Ethiopia, he added.
As we are entrusted with the responsibility of preserving Ethiopia and passing it on to the next generation, he said, adding to this effect, it is necessary to work day and night.
Abiy stressed that we should continue our journey without being hindered by small attempts from ongoing reform.
Anticipating emerging threats which transcend traditional circumstances, Abiy said it is important to be capable, able to fight back and be ready to take reliable action against enemies..
“If we are strong, prepared, and show our unity for internal and external enemies, we will not only be brave, but it will help us to defend ourselves against those who try to stop us from proceeding ,” Abiy stressed.
He added that Ethiopia is a country that pays tribute to the countries that played greater role in the process of modernizing the air force.
