Ethiopia Committed to Further Strengthening Relations with EU, Member States: DPM & FM Demeke

Addis Ababa ,December 7/2023(ENA)_The government of Ethiopia is committed to further strengthening its relation with European Union (EU) and its member countries, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen said.

While convening dialogue with ambassadors of EU member countries today, Demeke said our cooperation is strategic, as Ethiopia and member states of the EU have enjoyed historic relations.


 

These relations have been strengthened in structured manner, he said.

He added that the EU and its member states have a major role to play through technical expertise and advice as well as in supporting the reconstruction and rehabilitation of societies affected by natural disasters as well as conflict.

EU Ambassador to Ethiopia Roland Kobia on his part said EU is a real partner of Ethiopia when it comes to peace.

Without peace and security, there is no development, trade and tourism, Ambassador Kobia said adding that "we are ready to support Ethiopia on the way to peace and stability.

He added that EU and its member states will be in a better position to help Ethiopia efficiently and in a sustainable manner.
