Chinese, Ethiopian Legislative Bodies Stress Need for Bolstering Agricultural Cooperation

Addis Ababa, December  1 /2023 (ENA) Representatives of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China and the House of People's Representatives (HPR) have discussed today about fostering cooperation in the agricultural sector. 

The Chinese delegation chairman Du Jiahao and  Deputy House Speaker Lomi Bedo exchanged insights into their respective agricultural achievements and the importance of knowledge sharing and cooperation.

The deputy speaker appreciated China's unwavering support and highlighted the country's role as a key development partner in strengthening bilateral cooperation across all fields, including agriculture. 

 

She also requested China's expertise support in utilizing agricultural mechanization, modernizing agriculture, and ensuring food security.

Chairman Du on his part elaborated on China's efforts to modernize agriculture and increase production and productivity, emphasizing the use of agricultural mechanization. 

He commended Ethiopia's remarkable progress in developing the agriculture sector and lauded its commitment to environmental protection.

The delegation leader promised to provide support to modernize Ethiopia's agriculture.

Du also said that the delegation is keen to gain firsthand experience of Ethiopian agricultural practices.

The two sides, during their discussion, emphasized the critical role of agriculture in driving economic growth, food security, and poverty alleviation.
