Headquarters of Global Black History, Heritage & Education Center to Be Inaugurated in Addis
Addis Ababa November 16, 2023 (ENA) The headquarters of Global Black History, Heritage, and Education Center will officially be inaugurate in Addis Ababa on December 8, 2023, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Meles Alem announced.
In his biweekly press briefing to local and foreign journalists today, spokesperson of the ministry of foreign affairs Meles Alem said that Ethiopia is origin of humankind and ancient civilization and founder and member of various international organizations.
The opening of the headquarters of Global Black History, Heritage, and Education Center in Addis Ababa will bring many social and economic benefits and consolidate Addis Ababa's diplomatic capital.
Ambassador Meles said the center's decision to open its headquarters in Ethiopia is recognition of the country’s vibrant history in Pan-African movements.
The institution is interested to making Ethiopia a center of Pan African movement, the spokesperson added.
He stated that it is a great opportunity to have the center in Addis Ababa to further boost Ethiopia’s standing in the tourism sector too.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by higher government officials and invited guests.
It is to be recalled that Global Black History, Heritage, and Education Center delegation paid a 10-day working visit to Ethiopia last April and met with high-level government officials.
The center is devoted to restoring, reclaiming, preserving, conserving, rediscovering and accurately documenting Africa’s true history and heritage. This will include manuscripts, artifacts, ruins, achievements, inventions, and ideologies.
It will also culturally bridge African nations among themselves and bind them to the wider African Diaspora ensuring that Africans wherever they live, are educated about the truth of their history and heritage.
This institution will achieve exactly this aim by being a center of intellectual production in the form of books, teaching and learning materials, etcetera.
