International Day of the Air Traffic Controller Celebrated in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, October 20/ 2023 (ENA)- The Civil Aviation Authority, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Air Traffic Controllers Association, has celebrated the International Day of the Air Traffic Controller today.

During the occasion, Transport and Logistics Minister Alemu Sime said that air traffic control is one of the most important and respected professions in the aviation industry.

Noting that the role of air traffic controllers in the aviation industry is great, he added that the ministry will pay attention to building the capacity of the professionals in the field.

A safe and secure air service can be provided when air traffic control functions can be carried out smoothly and effectively.

Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority Director-General Getachew Mengiste said on his part that the International Day of the Air Traffic Controller is celebrated to recognize the professionals who contribute greatly to the development of the country's aviation industry.

According to him, it is important to give appreciation to air traffic controllers who are serving their country with insufficient resources and under unfavorable conditions.

Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew appreciated the contribution of air traffic controllers for supporting the country's economy by reducing fuel wastage and enabling a safe and secure air transport service while working in unfavorable conditions.

Each year, October 20th is the International Day of the Air Traffic Controller, which celebrates those who keep air travel safe.

The day serves as a reminder of the relentless dedication and hard work of air traffic controllers who ensure the skies remain safe for travel.
