Commendable Ongoing Health Services Need to be Scaled Up: Cabinet Affairs Minister

Addis Ababa ,September 6/2023(ENA):-The commendable services that are being offered by the health sector needs to be further scaled up, Cabinet Affairs Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister, Alemtsehay Paulos, remarked.
Today is the first day of Pagumen, the 13th “month” of Ethiopian calendar with five or six days every leap year.
Institutions at the federal and regional levels and civil servants are marking this “Service Day” with various programs.
As part of the day, Ministry of Health and affiliated health institutions, Addis Ababa Health Bureau and private health facilities have provided free health services to the public at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa marking Pagumen 1 under the theme “ Let us serve Ethiopia.”
In accordance to the program set earlier, higher government officials were provided with health checkups.
Launching the free health service event, Alemtsehay Paulos, Cabinet Affairs Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister said serving the public in the health sector is a noble duty which vividly shows the exemplary role of servitude to the public.
Alemtsehay added that the health professionals are paying commendable sacrifices by providing unreserved service to the public and noted that such services need to continue’
Minister of Health, Lia Taddese said that the day of service is a day in which we renew our professional oath to provide better services to the public.
She remarked that the nature of the health sector demands higher commitment for providing unreserved health service to the public.
Health professionals who selflessly provided their services during the advent of COVID-19 epidemic need to be commended for their services, she added.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Transport and Logistics, Alemu Sime lauded the services provided by the health professionals including the Minister of Health during the advent of COVID-19.
He thanked all professionals engaged in such a noble service and urged them to continue to render their services.
Today, a total of 250,000 citizens across the country are believed to receive free health checkup and medical services in commemoration of service day.
