PM Abiy Holds Talks with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi

Addis Ababa August 3/2023(ENA):-Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held discussion with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi who is in Addis Ababa for a two day working visit.

“Ethiopia attaches great importance to its relations with Japan and remains committed to cooperate on issues of mutual interest,” Abiy twitted. 
 

Earlier today, the Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa held similar discussion with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen on various issues of common interest.
 
During the occasion, Demeke told Hayashi that Ethiopia and Japan should work hand in hand to foster partnership in bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest. 

He also expressed the gratitude of the Japanese Government for its continued assistance in the peace-keeping efforts of Ethiopia.

FM Hayashi said for his part, Japan appreciates the improving situation in Ethiopia and vowed the support of his Government. 
 

“We are keen to bolster multifaceted cooperation between Japan and Ethiopia in the areas of human capacity development, development assistance, scaling up Japanese investment in Ethiopia in tandem with supporting the humanitarian assistance effort of the Ethiopian Government.”

The dignitaries also reiterated the need to work closely on mitigating the drastic effects of climate-change induced challenges as well as the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

Hayashi arrived to Ethiopia as part of his final tour to Africa after visiting South Africa and Uganda.
