Int'l Federation of Freight Forwarders Meeting to Open in Addis Tomorrow

Addis Ababa, July 28/2023 (ENA) A two-day meeting of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA) that aims to accelerate progress in the logistics industry will open in Addis Ababa tomorrow.
During a press briefing today, FIATA Airfreight Institute Chair Dawit Woubshet said officials of the association from different corners of the world have arrived in the capital city.
The main aim of the meeting is to commence the work of the Global Air Cargo Program, according to him.
The chairperson, who also revealed that Ethiopia has submitted a tender document to host the FIATA 2026 Congress, expressed his conviction that it has all the necessary resources and capacity to host the congress and called on the government and other concerned actors to support the country's offer.
FIATA Director-General, Stephane Graber said on his part that Ethiopia has been working hard on improving the logistics industry in the past few years and has the ingredients needed to host the FIATA Congress with more expected hard work.
He stated that the logistics community in Ethiopia has been doing great jobs to develop the capacity and the logistics industry.
The outstanding Ethiopian Airlines has developed Addis Ababa strongly as an airline and freight hub in Africa, Graber said.
These are among the reasons that brought the FIATA leadership to Ethiopia to discuss the Global Air Cargo Program that advances the work towards a comprehensive program.
Regarding Ethiopia’s bid to host FIATA 2026 World Congress, the director general said he is convinced that Ethiopia can host the congress because it has the required things.
“And today, I am absolutely convinced that Ethiopia is the best candidate in Africa to be the next one to host a FIATA world Congress.”
