Elders Express Joy for Leaving Footprints in Green Legacy Initiative

Addis Ababa July 17/2023 (ENA) Elders who participated in planting of seedlings with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today expressed joy for they were able to leave their footprints in the Green Legacy Initiative to the benefit of the future generation.  

The premier has today planted seedlings with persons with disability, students and elders in three separate locations as part of the tree seedlings program carried out today from dusk to dawn by planting 566 million seedlings.
 

The elders who planted the seedlings with the premier said that the implementation of Green Legacy Initiative is great hope for the future generation. 

They expressed joy for they have been able to plant trees to the benefit of the future generation.  s

Aynalem Gashaw, who came to plant trees with the intention of contributing for the development of the nation by participating in the Green Legacy Initiative, said  “I am very happy for getting the opportunity to leave my legacy for the future generation.” 

Zewde Simegne, stated that planting of seedlings is being carried out in Ethiopia by considering the future generation. 

Though she is visually impaired, she is very joyful for planting trees for the future generation.  

Mamo Assefa for his part said elders shoulder the responsibility to nurture the future generation. 

The elders said they were excited for being able to plant seedlings with Prime Minister Abiy not only to the current generation but also to the generation to come, Mamo stated.    

Abate Woldeyes stressed the need to strengthen the participation of all citizens in the country in the implementation the ongoing green legacy initiative with a view to building green Ethiopia.
