Russia, Ethiopia Working to Enhance Cultural, People-to-People Relations: Ambassador Terekhin

Addis Ababa June 29/2023 (ENA)  Russia and Ethiopia are working to further enhance their relationships in areas of culture, people-to-people relations, and religion, among others, Ambassador Evgeny Terekhin said today. 

Speaking at the "Days of Russian Spiritual Culture in Ethiopia", the ambassador said Russia and Ethiopia are working together to further enhance  their relationships in areas of culture, people-to-people relations, and religion, among others. 


 

According to him, the two countries have close relations in people-to-people relations and cultural values. 

Indicating that his country is carrying out activities that strengthen cooperation with Ethiopia in cultural, spiritual, and artistic works, Ambassador Terekhin announced that a Russian traditional singer group will come to Ethiopia in November 2024.  


 

He further pointed out that the relation between the two countries is not limited to culture and people-to-people relations, rather embraces all areas, including education. 

Russia will start to teach Amharic in the coming September in Moscow schools, the ambassador disclosed, expressing his hope that this will also play a significant role in enhancing the ties between the countries.

Ethiopian Heritages Authority Director-General, Abebaw Ayalew said the two countries are undertaking various activities with a view of strengthening cultural relations. 


 

He stated that Ethiopia and Russia are in particular cooperating in religious architecture, painting, ancient religious architecture, artifacts, among other.

On the sidelines of the four-day event, a round table discussion was also held about the closeness of spiritual and cultural heritage as a basis for development of Russia and Ethiopia.
