Djibouti’s Public Diplomacy Delegation To Visit Ethiopia Next Week

Addis Ababa June 29/2023 (ENA) A delegation of Djibouti public diplomacy will visit Ethiopia, from July 2-7, 2023, to further bolster the relations between the two countries, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his biweekly media briefing, Spokesperson of the ministry Ambassador Meles Alem said some 112 members of the public diplomacy comprise government officials, elders, journalists, members of the business community, experts, among others, it was indicated.

Noting Ethiopia and Djibouti have strong relationships, he said this visit will create an opportunity to further consolidate the relations, among others, in economy, political, tourism, trade spheres.

During their stay here in Ethiopia, the delegation will participate on green legacy initiative and people-to-people discussions, he elaborated.

The visit of the delegation will play a positive role in building the image of the country, Meles said.

Moreover, the spokesperson elaborated that the government has given attention to public and economic diplomacy in order to be effective in post-conflict reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts the country.

He stressed the need for continued support by the international community to the post-conflict peace consolidation and rehabilitation efforts of the government.

On other hand, Meles noted the 2nd Afri-Run consultative forum on the equitable and reasonable utilization of the Nile River was held in Addis Ababa last week.

The consultative forum created an opportunity to reach an agreement on the need for basin-wide cooperation based on the principle of equitable and reasonable utilization of the waters.

The forum also underscored the need to set appropriate narratives on the equitable and reasonable utilization of waters of the Nile, Meles said.

The participants of the forum also visited the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and stressed the importance of the forum for dialogue on shared transboundary water resources in Africa, he added.

He also highlighted various diplomatic activities that have been carried out over the past two weeks.
