Transformation of Ethiopia in Hands of Youth: Prime Minister Abiy

Addis Ababa June 02/2018 The youth should take up leadership role to realize the transformation of Ethiopia, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said. The youth on their part have expressed their resolve to serve their country by withstanding the challenges they encounter. Office of the Prime Minister in collaboration with Tony Blair 4 World had organized a forum under the theme “Inspiring the Future Leaders of Ethiopia” yesterday. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and Executive Chairman of Institute of Global Change, and Microsoft 4Africa Regional Director Amrote Abdella delivered speeches at the forum. In his speech, Prime Minister Abiy stressed that the youth must participation in the country’s economic, political and social affairs, and their participation in decision-making and leadership is crucial. He added that the government will strive to ensure the all-round active participation of the youth by creating conducive conditions for their involvement. Tony Blair advised the youth to be open minded in discerning various things and should not in particular take differences as threats but opportunities. Some of the participants told ENA that the youth should be courageous enough to withstand the challenges they face and succeed in the sectors they are engaged in. One of the youth, Abel Endale, said “challenges should not scare us but strengthen us.” A female participant, Zeseat Abebe, said we have the obligation to face the challenges and improve the country.
