PM Abiy Wraps up South Korea Visit, Heads for TICAD Summit

Addis Ababa August 27/2019 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has concluded his visit to People’s Republic of Korea and heads for Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Summit to be held in Japan.

During his two-day stay in South Korea, the Prime Minister held discussion with the country’s President, Moon Jae-in on wide range of bilateral issues.

The leaders have exchanged views on further bolstering their bilateral and other issues of mutual concerns.

Premier Abiy also met with senior officials including the President of the EXIM Bank of the Republic ofKorea, Yong Hwan Kim and President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOIKA).

Prime Minister Abiy heads to Japan to participate in the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), where other African leaders are expected to participate on the summit.

TICAD is a multilateral forum whose participants include not only African countries but also international organizations, partners, private companies and civil society organizations involved in development.

The government of Japan leads the conference with co-hosts such as the United Nations, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Bank and African Union Commission (AUC).

The seventh TICAD summit will be held 28th -30th August, 2019 under the theme “Advancing Africa’s Development through People, Technology and Innovation.”

The first conference took place in 1993.
