Evidence-Based Health Researches Expected to Give Input to Policy Makers Underway

Addis Ababa August 19/2019 Health State Minister Sahrelah Abdulahi said ensuring quality and equitable health services delivery requires research-based effective evidences.

She stated that the research results obtained from the conference would be vital for policy and practice. "The research results could have an impact on policy shifts and next plan after the Second Growth and Transformation Plan."

The researches as well as the national health policy that is being revised after 20 years will have significant inputs for the growth and transformation policy, Sahrelah added.

Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Deputy Director at the ministry, Liya Wondesen said research results from academicians and implementation by decision-makers and health actors should be further enhanced and integrated.

More than 41 researches, on more than six thematic areas, will be presented to about 250 stakeholders from research institutions, universities and NGOs, among others, in the two-day conference.

The Advisory Council established four years ago under MCH makes systematic research analysis on maternal health, child health and immunization, neonatal health, family planning, nutrition and early childhood development as well as prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS, it was learned.
