President Sahilework, PM Abiy Plant Trees to Promote Green Legacy

Addis Ababa July 29/2019 Ethiopia’s massive greenery national project getting momentum as President Sahilework Zewdie and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed joining the planting campaign today in Gondar and Arba Minch. 

President Sahlework and Prime Minister Abiy have planted trees saplings this morning aimed at persuading people to plant more trees.  

The country has launched huge tree planting campaign targeting to plant 200 million tree saplings only today to exceed the world record.

President Sahilework urged development of the country's afforesation while participating a tree planting national campaign in Gondar, Amhara Regional State today.   

The president called for a humane and down-to-earth courage for planting trees as people plant trees so the next generation can benefit from forest resources.

Prime Minisiter Abiy has also planted trees saplings in the town of Wolayita Sodo in Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples’ Regional State this morning.

He called on officials at all levels to take the lead in voluntary tree planting campaigns to promote new development thoughts with their own practices.

Senior government officials, public servants, farmers, youths and the public at large are partaking in the trees planting campaign.

Premier Abiy also emphasized the follow up and protections of the planted saplings need to be carried out well with widespread public participation on the top of trees planting.

Today’s trees seedling planting campaign is part of the national 4 billion trees planting project officially launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on May 26, 2019.
