Arrival Date of Corpse of Late President Negasso to be Announced in Two Days

 Addis Ababa April 30//2019 A national committee that oversees the funeral arrangements of former Ethiopian President Negasso Gidada announced that the date of the arrival of his corpse will be announced in the coming two days.

Briefing journalists today, Finance State Minister Eyob Tekalign and chairperson of the committee said the committee has completed preparations to receive the corpse.

Eyob added that 3 sub-committees will be facilitating the funeral ceremony, security and logistics.

The committee members are drawn from  offices of the Prime Minister and the President, Ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs, and Defense, among others.

Foreign Affairs State Minister Birtukan Ayano said on her part Negasso's death was communicated to the Ethiopian Embassy in Frankfurt on Saturday April 27, 2019.

The cause of his death is not yet announced by the hospital, she added, pointing out that the  former president was in Germany for routine checkup.

Negasso Gidada was president from 1995 to 2001.
