Over Half Million Expected to Take Part in GERD Fund Raising Run

Addis Ababa May 25/2018 A fund raising run, in which more than 500,000 are expected to take place, will be held next week, Office of National Council for Coordination of Public Participation on the Construction of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) announced. The Great Ethiopian Run for GERD will be held on May 27 in all regions, except Somali Regional State. Some 250,000 T-shirts worth 2.5 million birr have already been sold, according to Daniel Darge, Chairman of GERD Main and Technical Committee. Citizens would show their support and commitment for the successful completion of the GERD, it was learned. Office Public Relations and Communication Director, Hailu Abraham said 1.58 billion birr was raised for the dam in the last nine months. Of this, 2.7 million USD was collected from Ethiopian Diasporas. The Great Ethiopian Run for GERD is being conducted for the third time.
