Over 28 Mn birr Worth Goods Donated to Displaced and Others in Oromia

Addis Ababa March 21/2019 Ministry of Revenues donated over 28.4 million birr worth contraband clothes, sugar and edible oil to displaced persons, poor inmates and persons temporarily held in Oromia Regional State today.

Revenues Minister Adanech Abebbe said the material support will not only help the needy but also curb contraband as stakeholders collaborate in cracking down on contrabandists.

Intercepted contraband goods used to be sold in Ethiopia.

Customs Commissioner Debelee Kabeta said the support will continue until the problems are resolved.

There are close to 1.3 million displaced persons who need humanitarian support in Oromia region, it was learned.
