Coffee Ceremony Held at Square Attracts 10,000 Gathered to Celebrate NNP Day

Addis Ababa December 06/2018 Representatives of Nations, Nationalities and Peoples (NNP) of Ethiopia that arrived in the capital one day ahead of the NNP Day held coffee ceremony where they discussed about peace and the importance of unity in diversity. Addis Ababa City Administration organized the ceremony that took place at Meskel Square today. During the event attended by about 10,000 people from the 76 nations, nationalities and peoples of Ethiopia, Abera Toeshe who came from Sidama stressed the beauty of unity in diversity and its power to ensure lasting peace in Ethiopia. According to him, this year’s NNP Day is unique as Ethiopia is undergoing through profound reform. The other representative from Agew, Mulluedle Girma, said Ethiopians are lucky since their diverse culture is a gift from God. “We should be proud of these impressive cultures,” she added. Organizing events like this plays a big role in cementing unity in diversity which enhances peace and development, Mulluedle noted. “Now I have the opportunity to share my culture with others, and also learn a lot from others,” she stated. Another lady representative of Addis Ababa, Medhn Desta said Ethiopia has a lot of incredible cultures. “People from diversified cultures are here together; and I have a sense of belongingness to all the cultures,” she added. The NNP Day will help to strengthen unity and creates favorable environment to understand diversity which is a source of peace and harmony rather than conflict. The 13th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day will be celebrated in Addis Ababa on Saturday, December 8, 2018.
