Addis Ababa November 16/2018 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has assured to intensify the chase for suspects in graft, rights crackdown and brings them to justice. In a press release issued by the office of the Prime Minister yesterday entitled “ Let us Unite in Fighting Cancer,” Premier Abiy noted that the government is working to bring before the courts of law the violators of  human rights and those engaged in massive embezzlement of public finance and property . The Prime Minister added that the action taken by the government is in response to the recurrent demands from the public to address the gross miscarriage of justice and restoration of human rights in the country. He stressed that the government is legally obliged to effectively respond to these public demands openly voiced by the peoples of Ethiopia. The Premier stressed that “Ethiopia cannot be a country in which two types of citizens prevail; the nation should not be a country in which those who embezzle the resources of the country live unaccounted in lavish luxury and citizens who try to live on left over dumped in dust bins.” Comparing crimes in violations of human rights and embezzlement of public property with cancer, he established a parallelism between cancer that attacks a victim at early stages in an unnoticed and hidden way in much the same manner in which criminals who violate human rights and embezzlement of   public property act. Towards the end of his message Prime Minister Abiy said “Criminals are yet to be drawn from the dens in which they are hiding. Ethiopians abhor crimes of all kinds and are dismayed with the actions of those who commit crime against the country in public and in a clandestine manner. Citizens will continue to expose those who violate the laws of the country and the government will continue to bring the perpetrators and uphold justice by bringing the offenders before the courts of law. He said sentences are passed upon those who trespass the law not only as a form of punishment but to ensure that such crimes are never repeated.
