Premier Abiy Appoints New Cabinet

Addis Ababa October 16/2018 The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) of Ethiopia has unanimousely approved the appointment of the new cabinet members  proposed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Premier Abiy announced his 20-member cabinet of which 10 are women. The new Cabinet is downsized from 28 to 20, intended  to speed up the ongoing sweeping reform in the country. The following are the newly appointed cabinet ministers:
  1. Eng. Ayesha Mohamed -Minister of Defense
  2. Dr. Ergoge Tesfaye- Minister of Labor and Social Affairs
  3. Dr. Telaye Gete -Minister of Education
  4. Dagmawit Moges -Minister of Transport
  5. Ahmed Shide- Minister of Finance
  6. Dr. Samuel Horka -Minister of Mines and Petroleum
  7. Muferiat Kamil -Minister of Peace (Newly Formed)
  8. Oumer Hussen -Minister of Agriculture
  9. Adanech Abebe -Minister of Revenue
  10. Eng. Getahun Mekuria -Minister of Innovation and Technology
(Newly Formed)
  1. Jantrar Abaye-Minister of Urban Development and Construction
  2. Dr. Hirut woldemariam- Minister of Science and Higher Education
(Newly Formed)
  1. Yalemtsgaye Asefaw -Minister of Women, Children and Youth
  2. Dr. Hirut kassaw -Minister of Culture and Tourism
  3. Fetlework Gebre-Egzihaber -Minister of Trade and Industry
  4. Dr. Fitsum Assefa -Planing and Development Commission Commssioner
Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shileshi Bekele-Minister of Water Irrigation and Electricity, Dr. Amir Aman-Minister of Health and Birhanu Tsegaye Attorney General with the rank of Minister have maintained their pervious postions.
