Ethiopia Appoints First Female Defense Minister

Addis Ababa October 16/2018 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Tuesday appointed Ayisha Mohammed Mussa as first ever female defense minister in the history of Ethiopia. The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) of Ethiopia has approved today the appointment of the new cabinet unanimously which was proposed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Ayisha was serving as Minister of Construction before the appointment. The new cabinet has a record number of female ministers composed of 10 out of the 20 ministers. Speaker of the House, Muferiat Kamil also appointed as Minister for the newly established Ministry of Peace.
