President Stresses Need for Creating Economic Cooperation to Benefit Ethiopians, Cubans

Addis Ababa October 15/2018 Ethiopia and Cuba should create economic cooperation beyond political and historic relations to benefit the people of both countries, President Mulatu Teshome said. He stated that Ethio-Cuba ties should be strengthened to ensure mutual benefits for the countries. Speaking at dinner party held in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Victory of Karamara for a Cuban delegation, Mulatu expressed gratitude to Cuban brothers who have sacrificed their precious lives to support Ethiopia preserve its sovereignty. The all-round relation between Ethiopia and Cuba is strong, he noted, adding that the Ethiopian government will give more attention to further strengthen the relationship between the countries. In due course of their historic relations, Cuba has been supporting Ethiopia in education, health, science and technology sectors, he stated. So far more than 5,000 Ethiopian students were trained in Cuban universities, it was learned. Cuba Army Corp General Ramon Espinosa Martin said 133 Cuban solders gave their lives to protect Ethiopia’s territorial integrity. The sacrifices they paid should now be translated into strengthening our mutual benefits, Corp General Martin underscored. He added that the Cuban government will take its share to bolster relations between the two countries. It will also continue to support the all-round development programs in Ethiopia.
