SEPDM Congress Elects Executive Members, Concludes Session

Hawassa October 02/2018 The 10th organizational congress of the Southern Ethiopian People’s Democratic Movement (SEPDM) has elected 15 members of the Executive Council. Muferiat Kamil, Million Mathios, Moges Balcha, Dr. Getahun Garedew, Tesfaye Beljijge, Meles Alemu, Kiflie Gebremariam, Tilahun Kebede, Abreham Marshalo, Hailemariam Tesfaye, Elias Shikur, Zeyinu Jemal, Antenah Fikadu, Desse Dalke and Dr. Ergoge Tesfaye. Speaking at the conclusion of the congress, SEPDM Chairperson Muferiat Kamil said the session was historical, democratic and conducted with a good spirit. Muferiat said the congress has brought young and dedicated members to the leadership to accelerate the ongoing reform at regional and national level. She said all elected officials were chosen based on merit and educational background. She noted that the new leadership has to shoulder the huge responsibility of addressing socio-political and economic challenges the region is facing. “We will work for the prosperity of our people and improving their livelihood by facing any challenge on the ground,” she said. In its 10th congress, SEPDM has retired a total of 24 long serving members, elected 65 members for the central committee and re-elected Muferiat Kamil and Million Mathios as chairperson and deputy  respectively.
