Before starting the election process, the congress has adopted a proposal to retire some long serving members and exclude some officials from being nominated to CC election. In this regard, the congress has decided to retire four long serving members of the party and exclude a total of eight members who are attending their higher education as well as serve the country as ambassador. The congress has also rejected the proposal to retire Demeke Mekonen, chairperson of the party and Deputy Prime Minister of the Country, saying that his presence is crucial for the sustainability of the ongoing reform.
