Council for Ethiopian Diaspora Action Vows to Defend Ethiopia at all Costs, Realize GERD

Addis Ababa November 6/2021 (ENA) Council for Ethiopian Diaspora Action (CEDA) has pledged to defend Ethiopia at all costs and realize the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

Coordinator of CEDA, Alebachew Desalegn said during the closing ceremony of the two months visit in Ethiopia conducted by the representatives of the council, the Diaspora community is committed to work hard to realizing the construction of GERD which is now at the final phase.

“The dam is the hope of 120 million Ethiopians. We will invest our resources for the realization of the dam,” he affirmed.

“We will promote the dam and encourage Ethiopians residing around the world to contribute their respective parts and we will work as Ambassadors of the GERD,” the coordinator pointed out.

Regarding defending the nation from various pressures particularly by some Western actors, Alebachew said most members of the Diaspora are fighting those elements who stand against Ethiopia using various platforms.

Citing that the Diaspora community has been playing its crucial role for Ethiopians to witness changes and reforms in the country, he said “We are ready to defend our nation by any means and at all costs”.

During their stay here in Ethiopia, members of the CEDA have visited GERD and other mega national projects including ‘Beautifying Sheger project’, it was indicated.

Members of the Diaspora have also visited the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) and provided material supports alongside blood donation.
