OLF Leadership Return Home

Addis Ababa September 15/2018 Leadership of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) has returned home after two decades of exile. High level government officials, as well as supporters have welcomed the leadership of OLF, which made its base in Eritrea, today at Bole International Airport. Hundreds of thousands of supporters of OLF have gathered at Addis Ababa's Meskel Square to welcome the leadership. The welcoming ceremony to be held at Meskel Square has also brought Chairman of Oromo Federalist Congress Bekele Gerba, Activist Jawar Mohamed, other political and public figures. Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Oromo Federalist Congress Bekele Gerba credited those who paid sacrifices for democracy and freedom. “I am deeply exited for this day we have witnessing. Thanks a lot for our fathers and freedom fighters who made us to see this special day”, he said. On his part activist Jawar Mohamed appreciated Oromo youth saying that their persistence has led to the freedom that they are enjoying today. Following the reform initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, many exiled political figures as well as parties labeled as terrorist have been returning home and OLF is one of them.
