Local Investors Encouraged to Engage in Industrial Parks: Corporation

April 2/2021/ENA/  Industrial Parks Development Corporation has called on local investors to engage in the industrial parks across the country and benefit.

A half-day workshop discussed today about ways of increasing the engagement of local investors in industrial parks.

Speaking on the occasion, Industrial Parks Development Corporation CEO, Sandokan Debebe said the engagement of local investors in the industrial parks of Ethiopia is low when compared with foreign investors.

Of the 94 local investors in the industrial parks, only 15 are local investors, he added.

Stating that local investors are encouraged to invest in industrial parks, Sandakan called on local investors to increase their engagements in the parks and exploit the opportunities provided by the parks.

Ethiopian Investment Commissioner, Lelise Nemie said on her part that there are commitments from the government side to enhance the engagement of local investors in industrial parks by providing sufficient information, enhancing awareness and capacity building training for the investors.

The commissioner revealed that most business persons in the country are engaged in trading than in industries.

The commission is therefore working in create conducive environment for local investors to engage in the manufacturing sector by cutting red tape.

There are currently 13 government-owned industrial parks in the country.
