Washington City Committed to Make PM Abiy’s Visit Successful

Addis Ababa  July 26/2018 The city of Washington will provide all the necessary support to make Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's visit to the city a success, according to Mayor Muriel Bowser. Mayor Bowser expressed commitment to make the visit successful while discussing with Ethiopian Ambassador to the U.S. Kassa Tekleberhan on Wednesday. PM Abiy will meet the Ethiopian Diaspora community residing in DC and its surround on July 28. Similar discussions with the Ethiopian Diaspora communities are also scheduled to take place in Los Angeles and Minnesota. The visit is aimed at boosting the involvement of all Ethiopians living in the U.S. in the ongoing reform, development, and democratization in their country of birth. The Mayor expressed her delight that the city will host the 'historic visit' and expressed commitment that her government will provide the necessary support to make the visit a success. Ambassador Kassa Tekleberhan expressed his gratitude to the Mayor and the city administration for the support to be extended regarding to the visit of the Prime Minister. Ambassador Kassa and Mayor Bowser have also discussed on ways of strengthening the relationship between Washington and Addis Ababa, which became twin cities in 2013, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington.
