Premier Abiy, President Isaias Pledge to Transform Relations to New Chapter

Addis Ababa July 16/2018 The leaders of Ethiopia and Eritrea have pledged to cement the newly re-emerged relations between the two nations after two decade of impasse. Speaking at an event dedicated to celebrate the peace and harmony between Ethiopia and Eritrea, President Isaias Afewerki expressed his hope that Ethiopia and Eritrea will move forward together for the betterment of two countries. “We are committed for new cooperation of development and prosperity of our nations in all aspects by degrading hatred and conspiracy,” he said. “We didn’t allow any force that would work to destruct our love, agreement and as well as, peace a development.” He stressed that the two sisterly countries will cooperate together to facilitate an enhanced relations for the coming generations. The President expressed his gratitude to Ethiopian people and government for warm welcome provided to him and his delegation. Addressing close to 25 thousands of Addis Ababa residents at the Millennium Hall, Premier Abiy Ahmed said the recent reconciliation between Ethiopia and Eritrea to end the border deadlock will create an opportunity to fellow neighboring countries, Premier Abiy Ahmed said. Abiy said “Our togetherness will be hope rather than concern for others.” The togetherness between Ethiopia and Eritrea will also be an opportunity for neighboring countries in particular and for the continent in general, the Premier underlined. Abiy reassured that no force could stop the ongoing reforms and changes in the country since Ethiopia has some 100 million people to sustain its peace, democracy and stability.Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stressed, “Peace is the mother of freedom and freedom in turn is the mother of prosperity.”
