ENA March 9/2020 The Government of Ethiopia has denounced the assassination attempt on Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok of Sudan.
The Office of the Prime Minister said it stands in solidarity with the people and Government of the Sudan.

Sudan’s PrimeMinister Abdallah Hamdok survived today an assassination attempt after bomb exploded and his  convoy was attacked in the capital Khartoum.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also wrote in his Face-Book page that he denounces the assassination attempt made on Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok earlier today.

“The people of Sudan have paid a great price and taken admirable steps towards maintaining peace,” he noted, adding that “such incidents need not derail the process and path began in ensuring the stability of Sudan.”

The bombing took place at the entrance to the Kober Bridge in Khartoum North, at the usual time he goes to his office, it was learned.

Prime Minister Hamdok issued a short statement to reassure the Sudanese people saying that he is well.

“What happened will not stop the march of change and will only be an additional splash in the high wave of the revolution,” he noted.

Hamdok was appointed to head Sudan's transitional government last August, a few months after the overthrow of long-time President Omar al-Bashir.

No one has yet taken responsibility for the attack, but the  Sudanese Professional Association (SPA), the influential group that led the protests against the al-Bashir regime, was quick to condemn the attack and called for demonstrations to support the revolution.
